Talisman Programs offer summer camp, school, and an independent living program for young people with learning disabilities, ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, and high functioning autism. Talisman has been offering summer camp experiences for children ages 8 to 22 since 1980 and is ACA accredited. Talisman’s summer camps provide parents with unique alternatives to ordinary summer camps and offer children with special needs a summer full of fun, adventure, and new learning experiences.
A Personal Relationship
With our limited enrollment, Talisman is able to maintain close personal contact with families from the admissions process, throughout the summer and on into the school year. Campers develop meaningful bonds with their counselors and parents are kept informed by weekly phone contact and a written summary at the end of the summer. Many campers build on those relationships by returning year after year, strengthening our community as they grow from it.
Location
Our campus is nestled in the mountains of western North Carolina. Talisman’s beautiful 140 acre campus sits in the ideal location for a special needs summer camp. Surrounded by national forests and other natural resources, Talisman is just a short drive from the modern conveniences and medical facilities of the city of Asheville.
In addition to our summer camps, we also offer Talisman Academy, a co-educational boarding school designed to address the needs of adolescents with Aspergers’s Syndrome, high-functioning autism, Non-Verbal Learning Disorder and related issues. For more information click here.
